The Sherpa team assigned to bring back the Bangladeshi climber Mohammed Khaled Hossain alias Sajal Khaled returned from camp-3 as they couldn’t locate his body due to adverse weather. The 10-member Sherpa team are now staying at camp-2 and the authorities are constantly monitoring the weather, Shamima Chowdhury, a Bangladesh embassy official in Nepal said.“We didn’t postpone the drive to bring his body back. Due to bad weather, we are yet to pinpoint the location of the body. We have not given up trying to locate it. The Sherpas will resume the operation when the weather is favourable,” Chowdhury said.
On Sunday, the Sherpa team has recovered a bag belonging to Sajal Khaled who died while descending from Mount Everest after successfully climbing the summit.
The bag was recovered at the ‘death zone’ of the mountain above 8000 metres, notorious for its difficult terrain and thin air.
Khaled conquered Mount Everest on the morning of 20 th May. Later, he embraced a tragic death at an altitude of 8,600 metres as he was descending from the world’s highest mountain.
The Bangladeshi authorities took the initiative to bring his body back from the mountain following his death.
Meanwhile, Sajal’s wife Shoily left Dhaka for Kathmandu on Monday morning.
Earlier, the Sherpa team started their operation on Saturday from the base camp to recover the body of Khaled.
