Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni has discussed with the ambassadors and heads of missions from South Asian and ASEAN countries the issue of dialogue amongst all political parties regarding the modalities of an interim government leading up to the upcoming general elections. While briefing 20 diplomats on recent developments in the country at the ministry on Thursday, she also discussed the recent political developments including the ongoing parliament session and preparations for the upcoming general elections, said a Foreign Ministry press release.
The envoys of the Russian Federation and the Holy Sea were also present at the briefing,
The Foreign Minister briefed them about a number of urgent initiatives and measures being taken by the present Government in coordination with employees, workers and the ILO in a collective effort to improve working conditions, occupational safety, collective bargaining rights and wages in the RMG sector.
The Ambassadors reaffirmed their countries’ support to Bangladesh in further strengthening its democracy and for addressing the challenges facing the RMG sector concerning compliance issues. They stressed the need for burden sharing and Corporate Social Responsibility by global buyers and consumers to promote decent work in the RMG and other labour intensive sectors.
