A book on kaleidoscopic journey of iconic actress Ferdausi Majumdar in theatre arena was launched by professor emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman in presence of leading theatre activists of the country on
Wednesday at the National Theatre Hall of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The book titled Abhinetar Rangamancha [The Thespian’s Stage] features five articles on the actress and 350 photographs of Ferdausi Majumdar enacting different roles during her long acting career over four decades on stage and various moments in her family life.
The book, edited by Ferdausi’s daughter Tropa Mujumdar, features articles by Mafidul Haque, late TV personality Atiqul Haque Chowdhury, late singer Ila Mazumdar, Mohammad Jahangir and Qurratul-Ain-Tahmina.
The porogramme was jointly organised by Ferdausi’s troupe Theatre and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy a day after her 70th birth anniversary. June 18 was also Tropa’s 40th birth anniversary.
One minute silence was observed in honour of recently demised TV personality Atiqul Haque Chowdhury at the beginning of the programme.
‘It is published from my mother’s second home “Theatre”, with a hope that it will inspire the young theatre activists after learning the versatility of an actor,’ in her welcome speech Tropa Majumdar said.

‘These days, I don’t find much interest to celebrate my birthday. I’ll be happy if the book launched today inspires theatre practitioners in future,’ said Ferdousi Majumdar.
