A regional manager of BRAC Education Programme was stabbed to death on Wednesday while traveling on official duty from Juba to Yei in South Sudan. The victim was identified as Mohammed Habibur Rahman, 45, who served Brac’s education programme in South Sudan for more than three years. Habib is survived by wife and a school going minor son.His wife is a schoolteacher. “Some unidentified people beat up and stabbed him and his driver, and hanged his body from a tree. There’re several stab marks on his body,” BRAC Executive Director Mahbub Hossain told the news agency on Friday confirming the incident. Hossain said Habibur Rahman was traveling from one place to another by a truck with few books. Though the body of Habibur was found, the driver still remains missing. BRAC is currently working with the country office in South Sudan to provide support for conducting a thorough investigation and bringing back Habib’s body to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
