Bangladeshi GM Niaz Murshed finished 4th in the DYTM Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah Invitational Masters Chess Championship securing 5.5 points on completion of the 11th and last round match in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur today (Saturday).
Niaz drew with IM Demakiling Oliver of Philippines in the day’s 11th round match after conceding defeat against GM Sergei Tiviakov of Netherlands in 10th round match on Friday
GM Sergei Tiviakov emerged champion securing 9 points while Luther Thomas of Germany became runner-up with 7.5 points. Eleven players from 8 countries including 5 Grandmasters, one Woman Grandmaster and 6 International Masters took part in the round robin league system.
