At least four people died in separate incidents in the capital and on its outskirts on Saturday.
At Savar, police recovered the bodies of two youths from the River Turag.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Majid, 27, a trucker, and his assistant Saidul Hossain, 30. Both of them are from Kushtia.Savar Model Thana police said that the bodies were found in Balughat on the bank of River Turag in Bongaon union, with their hands and legs tied up and marks of stab injuries.
Aminur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station, suspected that a rod-laden truck was hijacked while it was going to Kushtia from Chauddagram in Comilla on Thursday.
The robbers might have hijacked the truck after stabbing the trucker and his assistant.
The truck was recovered from the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Friday. Police have so far arrested nine people suspecting their involvement in the incident.
At Mouchak in the capital, a teenager was allegedly killed by another boy at Mouchak Market Saturday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Abdur Rahman, 12, an apparel employee.
Police said Rahman, a employee of garment shop ‘Majeda Collection’ on the third floor of the market, was locked into an quarrel with Sabuj, 12, an employee of a nearby shop over a trifle matter at about 3:00pm.
Suddenly, Sabuj punched him in the chest; leaving Rahman seriously injured and fled the scene.
Rahman was rushed to a local hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead at 4:30pm.
At Kafrul, a housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.
The deceased was identified as Antarani Saha, 20, a second year student of Kaliakoir Degree College and wife of Madan Mohan Saha.
The victim’s uncle, Prakash Chandra Saha, said they were married seven months ago.
She killed herself after an altercation with her husband.
