The High Court has issued a rule on the Khulna University authorities, asking why a rule should not be issued to continue academic activities of the life science school of the university.
A two-member division bench comprising Justice Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Khorshed Alam Sarker issued this rule on Thursday upon the vice-chancellor, deans and seven heads of disciplines of life science school, registrar and controller of examinations asking them to reply within 15 days.
The High Court issued this rule after hearing a writ petition filed on behalf of 31 teachers of the university.
The VC, Fayekuzzaman, told New Age on
Saturday that he would reply to the HC rule within 15 days.
The academic activities of the life science school of Khulna University came to standstill as a group of teachers are on strike since March 24 in protest against appointment of Samir Kumar Shadhu as dean of the same school.
Shadhu was a senior teacher of pharmacy discipline of the university.
