Bangladesh is being considered as one of the seven countries for a British pilot scheme under which visa-seekers from these countries will have to a pay a cash guarantee along with their visa applications. According to media reports, under the scheme United Kingdom visa seekers from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya will have to pay a £3,000 cash guarantee along with their visa application and the amount will be confiscated if they overstay in that country.
“The UK government has already announced its intention to trial the use of financial bonds as a way of tackling abuse in the immigration system,” said a statement issued by British High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday. “The details of the policy are still being finalised. Bangladesh is being considered as a pilot country but no final decision has been made,” it said.
