Leader of the opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia has invited Awami League’s general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam along with all presidium members to join BNP’s Iftar party in political leaders’ honour. A BNP delegation, led by assistant office secretary Abdul Latif Jony, on Monday went to AL president’s political office at Dhanmondi and handed over the invitation letter to AL’s deputy office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das.
Abdul Latif Jony told reporters that the Iftar party would be held on July 13 at LD Hall-2 of Parliament Members’ Club.
The invitation letter, signed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, mentioned the names of AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, presidium members-Zohra Tajuddin, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Matiya Chowdhury, Abdul Latif Biswas, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim, Kazi Jafrullah, Satish Chandra Roy, Sahara Khatun, Obaidul Karim and Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin, said Jony.
Party sources said invitation letters to leaders of other political parties have already been sent to join the Iftar party.
The invitation letter for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be sent to her office in time, they said.
The other members of the BNP delegation include assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin and BNP chairperson’s media wing official Shamsuddin Didar.
If the moon of the month of holy Ramjan is sighted on Tuesday evening in the sky of Bangladesh, the fasting will start from Wednesday.
