Prime Minister and President of the ruling Awami League Sheikh Hasina who returned home on Wednesday shortening her Belarus visit by one day, directed her party leaders to gear up campaign among people to enhance party’s support base. She gave the instruction while meeting senior leaders of her party at her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital on Wednesday evening.The meeting mainly discussed the reasons behind the party’s serial defeat in the recent mayoral polls with most of the leaders opined that infighting in the party and the opposition’s propaganda against the ruling party caused the defeat, meeting sources said.
Apart from this the TIB report, Dr Yunus issue, BCS examinees protest came up in the discussion.
The PM also asked the leaders to create mass-opinion against the opposition’s demand and to highlight government’s success in the last four and half years.
Party presidium members Matia Chowdhury, Obaidul Kader, Sahara Khatun, Sahara Khatun, general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok were present in the meeting that ended at 11.30 pm.
