Two Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders were expelled from the organisation for allegedly assaulting the principal of Srinagar Government College in Munshiganj on Thursday. The expelled BCL leaders are Parvez Sikdar Panir, general secretary of Srinagar upazila Chhatra League unit, and Mohammad Jakir Hossain Parrot, general secretary of Srinagar Government College unit Chhatra League. Asaduzzaman Sumon, president of the district Chhatra League unit, said the two BCL leaders were expelled from the organisation for assaulting the principal. Golam Kibria, vice-chancellor of the college, said local MP Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh sought pardon to Bidyut Kumar Saha, principal of the college, on behalf of the BCL men after the incident.
However, Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Srinagar Police Station, said the victim filed a case under the sections 143, 448 and 332.
Principal Bidyut Kumar Saha said the teachers of the college boycotted classes protesting the incident on Thursday.
He also said they would go for a tougher movement if the authorities concerned do not take necessary action against the attackers after arresting them. Earlier on Wednesday, a group of Chhatra League leaders and activists assaulted the principal as he asked them not to sit on the chairs of the teachers when they went to his office to place their demand for quota system in the admission process of Class-XI.
