BNP chairperson and leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia on Tuesday observed that the country is in grave crisis. She also urged the people to pray to Allah during this holy month of the Ramzan to get rid of the government oppression and repression. “This government is blatantly corrupt and oppressive. We have to pray to Allah with the spirit of Ramadan so that the country as well as the nation can get rid of the oppression and misdeeds of this government ,” the former prime minister said in her brief speech as the chief guest at the iftar party hosted by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the capital on Tuesday.
“We would get relief and the country would be freed from corruption and misdeeds if the ruling Awami League exits from power,” she said.
LDP, a component of the 18-party alliance led by BNP arranged the Iftar at the Trust Auditorium in the capital with LDP chairman Col (Rtd) Oli Ahmed in chair.
Khaleda Zia said, “We will build a peaceful and prosperous democratic country if BNP-led 18-party alliance is voted to power in the next general election.”
BNP standing committee members RA Goni, MK Anwar, Jamiruddin Sircar, Abdul Moeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, vice chairmen Selima Rahman, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Abdus Salam member secretary of Dhaka city unit BNP, MA Mannan newly elected mayor of Gazipur City Corporation and others attended the iftar party.
Besides, Islami Oikya Jote leader Abdul Latif Nezami, LDP leader Reduan Ahmed, National Awami Party leader Jebel Rahman Ghani, National Democratic Party leader Golam Murtaza, Labour Party leader Mustafizur Rahman Iran among other took part in the iftar party.
Before taking iftar, Khaleda Zia also former premier exchanged greetings with leaders of other political parties present there.
A munajat was offered seeking peace and prosperity of the countrymen as well as the muslim ummah across the world.
