The parliamentary committee on public undertakings on Wednesday recommended the authorities should speed up the process for 3G spectrum auction.
The committee also recommended that the authorities should take steps to realise an outstanding fine Tk 838.40 crore from the four telecom operators, committee member Khaledur Rahman told New Age after a meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad.
‘The Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission in its latest decision in the last week of June fixed the auction date on September 2. But the BTRC had four times rescheduled the date of auction,’ said Khaledur. ‘We want no change of this new date,’ he said.
Chaired by Committee chairman ABM Golam Mostafa, the meeting also recommended that Khulna Shipyard should be recognised through awarding ‘Swadhinata Purashkar’ for successfully building two vessels for Bangladesh Navy.
Committee members TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, Khan Tipu Sultan, SK Abu Baker and BTRC Chairman Sunil Kanti attended the meeting.
Another meeting of parliamentary standing committee on ministry of primary and mass education expressed dissatisfaction over recruitment of some teachers with fake voter identity cards.
The committee formed earlier to identify such cases has been asked to submit its report to the committee by August 31.
The meeting, chaired by Committee chairman Mamataj Begum, was also attended by minister for primary and mass education Afsarul Ameen, members Atiur Rahman Atik, Afaz Uddin Ahmad and Talukder Mohammad Yunus.
