Communi-cations Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said special control rooms will be set up in the city’s bus terminals ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure law and order and reduce sufferings of the homebound people. “The Ministry of Communications will remain alert against the charging of excess transport fare from the homebound people ahead of Eid…special control rooms will be set up in the city’s terminals to reduce sufferings of the home-goers,” he told reporters during a surprise visit to the city’s Gabtoli bus terminal.
Quader said a special taskforce comprising members of law enforcing agencies will be operational at the city terminals after 15th Ramadan and CCTV will be set up in the control rooms.
“A monitoring team of the (Communications) ministry will also remain in operation,” he added.
The Communications Minister said traffic congestion in the capital has reached an unbearable stage and public suffering has increased recently due to political instability and various programmes announced by political parties.
“The traffic congestion could be minimised by taking integrated and effective initiative involving the stakeholders,” he said.
