The newly elected mayors of Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and
Sylhet city corporations will be sworn in on Sunday.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at International Conference Centre at
the Prime Minister’s office in Dhaka at 9:30 am.The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will administer the oath of the mayors while LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam will administer the oath of the councillors of the four city corporations, said an official release on Saturday.
Opposition-backed mayoral candidates won the elections to the four city corporations held on June 15 defeating the ruling party-supported candidates with impressive margins.
Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, Moniruzzaman Moni, Ahsan Habib Kamal and Ariful Haque Chowdhury have been elected mayors of Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet cities respectively.
