An alleged miscreant was killed in a ‘shootout’ with police in Beribadh area under Rupnagar police station in the capital on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Mahdi, 40. According to Sub-inspector of the police station Aminul Islam, terrorist Mahdi received bullet in the forehead during a ‘shootout’ with police in the Beribadh area at night. Aminul took Mahdi to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead at about 11:35. However, doctor found the deceased’s left hand being handcuffed . The sub-inspector declined to give any detail of the identity of Mahdi and the gunfight. Three cases, one murder case, one for arms and another case illegal drugs were filed with Rupnagor Thana Police Station on Friday night.
However, there were no previous case against Mahadi at Rupnagor Thana Police Station, duty officer SI Ahsan Habib told The Independent.
He said,” Senior officials including AC and OC were present during the shoot out.”
Talking to The Independent over phone, SI Rafiqul Islam said,” There around 20 criminal cases aganist Mahadhi in Mirpur Thana.” He denied the allegation of staged shoot out.
