A housewife, who tried to commit suicide through burning herself in Comilla, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday, 12 days after she was admitted with critical injuries.
The deceased Salma Akhter, 18, allegedly burnt herself on July 11 when husband Md Baker Mia tortured her for dowry. Her sister Kusum Begum told New Age that Salma’s in-laws used to torture her for dowry for the last six months.
