With the Bangladesh Cricket Board election gathering pace after the directive from the Supreme Court recently, its ad-hoc committee has started to lure the clubs by
including their officials in the touring party of the age-level teams.
Amin Khan, manager of the Brothers Union cricket committee, is all set to join the Bangladesh U-19 team in England as an observer after his getting visa get, while Mohammad Selim of Orient SC will travel with the Under-23 side for the tri-nation tournament in Singapore.
Earlier, the BCB was criticised for sending an observer who had always been chosen from among the board directors, but the reason behind selecting these two club officials could be known immediately.
Despite several attempts Gazi Ashraf Hossain, chairman of the game development committee, could not be reached on phone for his comment.
When contacted, Ismail Haider Mallick, an influential member of the BCB ad-hoc committee, confirmed the inclusion of the two officials and admitted that Brothers Union’s AZM Nasir, who is also an ad-hoc body member, had proposed the name of Amin.
‘Why will only the directors of the BCB have the chance to tour with the teams?,’ questioned Mallick.
‘We had decided that from now onward the club officials will be included in 50 percent of the tours,’ said Mallick.
‘And they are members of our standing committee. Amin is a member of the grounds committee and Selim is tournament committee member,’ he added.
Recently BCB president Nazmul Hasan expressed his confidence about winning the election on the strength of his club backing.
