Two suspected carjackers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion in South Keraniganj early on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sabuj Miah, son of Abdur Rashid of Bhola and Sagar Ahmed, son of Mobinur Rahman of Barisal.
RAB also recovered a foreign-made revolver, two rounds of bullet, four bullet shells, two machetes and four mobile phones from the scene, RAB officials said.
They said Rab-10 had set up a check post on the highway in front of Jhilmil Residential Project site under South Keraniganj early on Tuesday.
At around 1am, RAB members tried to halt a speeding car coming towards the check post but the passengers tried to flee back firing several rounds of bullet at the RAB members,
who also fired back in retaliation, triggering a gunfight.
When the gunfight was over, two persons were found lying dead inside the car.
Later, RAB confirmed that the car was hijacked from Airport road at around 9pm on Monday.
The bodies were sent to South Keraniganj Police Station.
