The Khulna Metropolitan Police authorities will build up a three-tier security network in the city to ensure peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Besides, security has been strengthened at 16 check posts in the city and 54 others in nine upazilas of the district. Uniformed and plainclothes police and Special Branch of police will remain deployed as part of the three-tier security.
Five teams of Rapid Action Battalion are patrolling the city streets for 24 hours.
The city’s main Eid congregation will be held at Khulna circuit house maidan.
There will be a tight police security arrangement around the congregation venue.
Police and RAB will be on high alert to fend off any trouble.
KMP sources said 2000 policemen will be on duty to maintain law and order.
The law enforcers are carrying out check on people and vehicles found in suspicious movement, which will continue unit the day before Eid.
Eid holiday of the officers-in-charge and other senior officials of the police stations under KMP have been cancelled.
Uniformed and plainclothes police, women police and intelligent agencies are giving security duty at the shopping malls and important points in the city.
RAB and intelligent agencies will remain alert at the time of money transaction to prevent snatching or deception.
Additional deputy commissioner of KMP Rashida Begum said search at the city entry points has been augmented.
Apart, some 45 teams are working to maintain law and order and control traffic jam in the city, she added.
