A man was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Gazipur early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Manik Mian alias Kala Manik, 25, son of the late Abdul Kuddus of village Kamalpur under Nandail upazila in Mymensingh.
The Joydebpur police subinspector, Jahirul Islam, said a gang of miscreants hacked Manik with sharp weapons near the gate of the Gazipur City Corporation office at around midnight, leaving him injured.
Later the local people rescued Manik in a critical condition and took him to sadar hospital where doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way at around 1:00am, he added.
The Joydevpur police officer-in-charge, SM Quamruzzaman, said the police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy, adding, they suspected that the killing might have taken place over previous enmity.
Manik’s mother Fazila Khatun alleged that two young men called Manik out of their house Thursday afternoon and his wife Sabina Yasmin alleged she saw Manik with a man named Arif, while he was leaving home.
The police filed a case but could not arrest anyone.
