Silk fabrics, weaved and designed by local artisans, are in tremendous demand in the Eid markets of Rajshahi. After a lull in trade and commerce in the city because of a weeklong incessant rainfall and drizzling, the shopping in Eid markets has gained momentum as the sky was clear on Friday.
The traders in the city markets are also happy with the clear sky and a huge turnout of customers.
Friday being a weekly holiday, a festive atmosphere was noticed at the busy RDA markets, Shaheb Bazaar, New market and the Jamal Super market.
Shopkeepers and their assistants were busy round the clock in tackling the customers, showing them the goods and bargaining with them.
All the city dwellers were seen to throng the fabric markets to choose their Eid dresses, ornaments, shoes and gifts. Most of the shoppers are visiting the markets with their family members.
The first choice for Eid outfits for both men and women alike is the silk fabrics.
After visiting silk markets in Rajshahi, one can easily understand why Rajshahi is known as the ‘silk capital’.
Sopura Silk Mills Limited, one of the leading silk mills in the country, has already introduced silk markets with diverse fashions and qualities.
Aiming at Eid shoppers, Sopura Silk Mills Limited has introduced hundreds of varieties of saris and punjabees.
In addition, there are varieties of three pieces, and scarves. There are also varieties of dresses for the children.
Alhaj Sadar Ali, managing director and owner of Sopura Silk Mills Limited, informed that aiming at the customers of all categories, varieties of saris, punjabees, three pieces and children’s dresses have been assembled at the showrooms of Sopura Silk Mills throughout the country.
Saidur Rahman, showroom in-charge of Sopura Silk Mills Limited, said the chief attraction of Sopura Silk Mills was the Katoa Sari designed on the Muslin.
This is the first time saris of such design have been introduced.
He further informed that the price of the saris vary from Tk 3,200 to Tk 10,500.
He further said this was the first time that
saris were designed on Muslin by Sopura Silk Mills Limited. The prices vary from Tk 3,200 to Tk 4,000.
Sopura has also introduced newly designed saris stripped and designed on Andy silk which are available at Tk 3,500 to Tk 7,000.
Moreover, Dhupian and Balaka silk saris of Sopura Silk are being sold at Tk 3,200 to Tk 4,200.
Sopura has also introduced newly designed Katan saris which are being sold at Tk 4,200 to Tk 45,000. Sipon silk saris are also being sold at Tk 4,800.
Sopura has also introduced varieties of silk punjabees being sold at Tk 2,500 to Tk 3,500.
Saidur Rahman further informed that Sopura introduced varieties of newly designed three pieces blocked on Muslin whose price range is from Tk 4,500 to Tk 5,200.
