At least four fishermen went missing as two fishing boats capsized in the Bay of Bengal on early Tuesday because of bad weather. The missing fishermen were identified as Abdullah, 45, Nur Bashar, 35, Alauddin, 35 and Kamal Hossain, 28.
All of them are residents of Mohipur area under Kalapara uazila in Patuakhali district.
The capsized trawlers are FB Marjia, owned by Ansar Mollah of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali and FB Al Madina owned by Khabir Majhee of Chittagong.
Ansar Mollah, also the president of Mohipur fishing trawler owner association, said two fishing trawlers capsized about 6km south of Kuakata beach while fishing because of the rough weather at 6:00am on Tuesday.
All of the 12 passengers of FB Al Madina were rescued while 12 of the 16 passengers of FB Marija were rescued.
All the rescued fishermen safely reached to Mohipur area, he added.
‘We couldn’t send trawler on the Bay to search the missing fishermen as the Bay is too turbulent,’ he added.
