Both the Bangladesh A team and the Under-19 side struggled with the bat in their respective matches in the UK on Sunday. The second-string Bangladesh side was dismissed for 171 against Lancashire in Manchester, while the Under-19s had a tough time against their Pakistani counterparts, getting bundled out for 149 in 43.4 overs at Kibworth. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh U-19 lost wickets at regular intervals, with only Nazmul Hossain (46) providing any meaningful resistance against a strong Pakistani bowling performance before being dismissed to end the innings.
The Pakistan U-19 side, who beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in their previous meeting of the tournament on Friday, was on course for victory again, reaching 103-1 in 25 overs. The first match between the sides was washed out on Aug 5.
Meanwhile, Shamsur Rahman (51 off 81 balls) and Naeem Islam (57 off 89 balls) struck fifties but the Bangladesh A team was still unable to pile up a competitive score at Old Trafford.
National cricketers Anamul Haque (0) and Mominul Haque (2) failed with the bat, along with former national opener Imrul Kayes, who made just five.
Lancashire duo Steven Croft and Arron Lilley shared six wickets between them to stifle Bangladesh A.
Lancashire were 98-2 after 18 overs.
In their last match, Bangladesh A fell to Yorkshire in a narrow seven-run defeat on Friday.
Chasing Yorkshire’s 198-all out, Bangladesh A posted 191 before being bundled out, with Anamul scoring the highest 69 from 92 deliveries.
