Popular pop band Chirkutt will perform in the Eid special phono love concert on Channel 9 at 11:40pm today as part of its weeklong schedule of the Eid festival on different TV channels.
In these concerts the band has planned to give focus on its latest album titled Jadur Shohor. ‘In this year’s Eid programmes, we focused on the songs from our latest album Jadur Shohor, which was released on August 2,’ said Pintu Ghosh, a vocalist and lyricist of the band.
‘We have made the album songs including Nei nei, Raater akashe chand, Jadur sohor, Niranondo, Jar ghor nei, and others with great devotion and I hope the listeners will like them,’ added Ghosh.
Ghosh further said that the band is also presenting evergreen Bangla songs in the live shows. ‘We are rendering folk numbers of Fakir Lalon Shah on musical shows as a tribute to the legend,’ shared Ghosh, who also added that in many television live shows, the songs greatly depend on requests of the viewers. ‘We have to sing the songs that our fans requestover the phone,’ the artiste informed.
‘We greatly enjoy the phono-live shows as the shows work as a direct bridge between us and the audience. We get instant response from them and also receive their valuable feedback, which inspire us even after the show ends and at times help us design our next album,’ said Ghosh.
‘We get certain benefits like audience remarks through live shows that we do not get on recorded programmes. So we like performing live,’ further said Ghosh.
The band, which was formed in 2002, unveiled their first album Chirkutnama in 2010. The current line up of the troupe includes Shumi on vocal and lyrics, Pavel on drums and percussions, Emon Chowdhury on lead guitar, Rokon on bass guitar, Tomal on rhythm guitar and Pinto Ghosh on violin and vocals.
