Unidentified miscreants attempted to rob the Nobabganj Branch of Agrani Bank at the old part of the capital during the three-day vacation of Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to Md Shahjalal, Officer-in-Charge of Lalbagh Police Station, the robbers tried to commit the robbery at Agrani Bank at any times during the Eid vacation breaking a part of the wall of the bank’s second floor. After entering inside the bank, they also attempted to break the volt, where the huge amount of money was kept, he said.
But their attempt went in vain, the police official added.
When the bank officials joined at work on Sunday morning, they saw the broken wall of the bank and informed police.
Meanwhile, the robbers stole gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from a Bangladeshi repatriate near Borhanpur Mosque at Hajaribagh area in the capital.
Minu Rahman, owner of the flat, said, “On the night before Eid, I went to my mother’s house at Bottola of Hajaribagh to celebrate Eid. After returning to my flat, I found the lock of the main door broken and the valuables were missing,” she said.
