Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote on Friday expressed concern over the attacks on the Hindus and other religious minorities across the country.
The leaders of Hindu minority organisation at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity said that the Hindu minorities were facing attacks and their idols were damaged at places across the country.
The leaders called on the government to ensure safety of the minorities before the upcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangali Hindus.
Gobinda Chandra Pramanik, the secretary general of the organisation, also demanded three-day government holiday during the festival.
They also demanded that 60 seats in the parliament be reserved for the religious minorities and separate voting system be introduced and separate ministry be established for the religious minorities.
The organisation would form human chains in district headquarters across the country between 11:00am to and noon on August 28.
The leaders of the organisation, Jayanta Kumar Sen, Palash Kanti Dey, Dinabandhu Roy and others attended the press conference.
