A private university student on Friday was hacked to death reportedly by his friend in the capital’s Hazaribagh area. The deceased was identified as Setu Sarker, 23, a first year student of Daffodil University.
Police arrested one Mezbaul for his alleged involvement in the killing. His detail identity could not be known immediately. Faruk Hossain, subinspector of Hazaribagh police station, said Mezbaul hacked Setu with a machete indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot at a flat at 17/1, Tallabagh at around 3:00pm on Friday.
They, along with some other students of Daffodil University, had been residing in a mess on the fourth floor of the building.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
Setu’s friend Mezbaul was arrested. Police was investigating the matter behind the killing, the officer said.
