Shuttler Ayman Ibn Zaman was the only shining light for Bangladesh on the second day of the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China on Saturday.
Ayman began with a remarkable performance in the first round of the badminton men’s singles event by beating Al-Mandalawi Qasim of Iraq by 2-0 sets to move into the last 16.

Meanwhile, weightlifter Jahura Akter Reshma, who participated in the 48kg weight category on Saturday, failed to realise her dream of clinching a medal as she finished in 10th position among 12 participants after lifting a total of 117kg.
Jahura may have failed to grab a medal for the nation, however she outdid her best performance in the snatch category.
She lifted 48kg in her first attempt and in her third and final effort she lifted 51kg in the snatch. In the clean and jerk category, she lifted 66kg for a total of 117kg, which was seven kilograms more than her previous record.
The Bangladesh three-on-three basketball team got off to a poor start as they suffered a 13-11 defeat against Macau in the group B preliminary round.
The Bangladesh team, consisting of Mubtasin Quader, Sajid Ishtiaque, Ishmam Chowdhury and Saquib Hossain, registered their names on the scoresheet even though they were unable to earn any double points and free throw.
