A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Kakrail in Dhaka early Wednesday, the police said. The deceased was identified as Pola Datta, 12, a Class VIII student of Viqarunnisa Noon School.
Pola, youngest daughter of Prodip Kumar Datta, used to live at house 36 on Pioneer Road at Kakrail.
Family sources said Pola killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf around1:30am.
Officer-in-charge of Ramna police station Md Moshiur Rahman told the news agency that her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
