Bangladesh Chhatra League activists on Wednesday chased the leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at Rajshahi University. Witnesses said a group of JCD activists led by its RU unit convener Arafat Reza Ashique was flexing muscle around campus premise.
While JCD men reached at Tukitaki Chattar on the campus at around 12:30pm, a group of BCL activists chased them suddenly.
JCD activists took shelter inside the university’s central library following the chase.
Later, BCL men hold a short gathering in front of the central library while BCL RU unit president Mizanur Rahman Rana and general secretary Touhid-al-Hossain Tuhin vowed to resist the anti-liberation forces in the university.
RU unit JCD convener Ashique alleged that BCL cadres allegedly attacked them in front of law enforcers adding that BCL men were trying to establish sole supremacy on the campus. He also claimed that three of their activists were injured during the BCL attack.
RU unit BCL general secretary told that BCL activists drove out the JCD men as they were trying to hamper academic atmosphere on the campus.
RU proctor Tariqul Hasan told New Age that he was aware of the incident and additional police were deployed to avert untoward situation.
