Bar On Info Disclosure
Petition of Oishee’s lawyer rejected
A Dhaka court yesterday rejected a petition by the lawyer of Oishee Rahman seeking directives on police to stop disclosing information about her to the media.
Schoolgirl Oishee is the prime suspect in the killing of her parents Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman. Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order saying that a court cannot issue any directive about stopping the disclosure of any kind of information, said court sources.
Filing the petition with the court on Wednesday, Oishee’s attorney said disclosing any information to the media about the teenage girl would jeopardise her privacy and security, and damage the reputation of her family and relatives.
Yesterday was the fourth day of the remand of Oishee, her housemaid Khadiza Khatun Sumi and friend Mizanur Rahman Rony.
On completion of their five-day remand, they trio will be produced before the court tomorrow, said police.
Investigators were examining the information given by the three arrestees on remand. Law enforcers could not make any fresh arrest in the double murder case till yesterday.
Doctors at the forensic medicine department at Dhaka Medical College said they will be able to deliver the report on the age determination tests of Oishee and Sumi by next week.
Police recovered the decomposing bodies of Special Branch of police Inspector Mahfuzur and his wife Swapna on August 16 at their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
The following day, Oishee surrendered to police. Later, she admitted to killing her parents.
