Jamaica Tallawahs ensured their place in the final of the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 after a seven-wicket win over Barbados Tridents on Friday in Trinidad as Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan barely featured. Jamaica were scheduled to encounter Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final in Trinidad on Saturday night. Barbados posted 148-6 in their 20 overs after Jamaica won the toss and decided to field first. Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik led the way with a 47-ball 49 as Sakib did not get the chance to wield his bat.
In reply, Jamaica reached their target with nine balls to spare, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara inspiring his side with an unbeaten half-century from 38 balls. Andre Russell struck some lusty blows at the end to remain unbeaten on 29 from just six deliveries.
Sakib bowled just one over conceding eight runs as he failed to bow out of the competition on a high. Sakib managed to bat in six games out of eight, accumulating just 22 runs while with the leather he picked up 11 wickets.
