At least ten activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were injured in factional clash on Wednesday afternoon at a programme attended by the BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
The party sources said that Sylhet district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party held its workers’ convention at a community centre in the town’s Kumarpara.Supporters of the JCD leader Iftekhar Hossain Dinar and Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal central vice-president Shamsuzzaman locked in the clash to establish supremacy at the programme in presence of the senior party leaders, the sources said.
Activists of both group vandalised the programme decorations leaving ten injured.
Later, senior leaders intervened and brought the situation under control, party sources said.
The injured were given primary treatments from different dispensaries in the city.
