The Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport customs officials held a man with around 876 grams of gold Sunday morning. The arrestee was identified as Abdul Matin, a dweller of village Horipur of Chagalnaiya upazila in Feni who landed at the airport from an Air Arabiya flight from Sharjah of United Arab Emirate.
The Chittagong airport assistant commissioner, Sunsanto Pal, said they had information that a man with gold consignment would come from Sharjah.
‘We arrested Matin when he approached the immigration though at first he denied about having gold with him,’ he added.
