The 3-day National Rabindra Sangeet Convention ended through a colourful cultural programme at Chhayanaut in Dhanmondi on Saturday.
The 32nd edition of the convention was organsied by Jatiyo
Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad.
The day’s programme began with bestowing flower wreath in the killing field of the Rayerbazar by the artists of the parishad. A discussion session of the representatives of the parishad was held in the evening. Eminent poet, playwright Syed Shamsul Haque was present as the chief guest at the progremme where national professor Salauddin Ahmed was given an award and a token money of taka 50,000 for his contributions in the literary arena of the country. A new committee of the parishad was also announced. Sanjida Khatun, president of Chhayanut was selected the president of the committee and singer Laisa Ahmed was declared the general secretary of the committee.
About 41 Tagore singers from across the country presented the timeless songs of Tagore. The cultural programme began with a chorus rendition of Aguner Paroshmoni Chhowao Pran-e by the artists of Surtirtha. The song’s powerful lyric and soothing composition created a warmth feeling within the hearts of the listeners.
The noted artist Mohadev Ghosh entertained the listeners when he presented Ami Chanchal Hey. Renowned Tagore singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, on the other hand, created a somber atmosphere in the hall through his lively presentation of Tagore’s melancholic songs Chokher Joley Bhijiye Diley in solo renditions. Anima Roy entertained the audiences with her rendition of very popular romantic Tagore song Majhe Majhe Tabo Dekha Pai. Shipra Talukder from Mymensingh presented another very charming romantic Tagore song Tomae Notun Korey Pabo Boley in her tuneful voice. Shukla Khan Setu from Sirajgong presented Naiba Roibo Tomar Pran-e.
Dhaka-based artists Fahmida Khatun, Mejhba-ul-Alam and Pijust Borua rendered the songs Jhorer Raatey Tomay, Tumi Amay Delechhiley and Mone Ki Didha Rekhe Gele Choley on that drizzling evening, respectively.
Indian dancer Joydwip Banarjee received loud applause from the audiences for his solo dance performance synchronized with song Megher Pore Megh.
