Chairman of Dhobaura Upazila in Mymensigh Forkan Uddin Selim was killed in a clash between the two rival groups of the ruling Awami League over supremacy in the area on Sunday evening. Police said the clash first started at about 2:10pm between the two groups led by AL secretary of Ghamari Union Azizul Haque Khan and Upazila chairman Selim. The administration issued Section 144 following the incident. But the two groups clashed again about 4:30pm violating the police restriction leaving three persons including the upazila chairman injured.
The two others injured identified as Majnu Mridha and Tipu, both were stated as brothers of Upazila chairman.
The three injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and critically injured Tipu died at the hospital at about 7:30pm.
No case was filed till filing of the report at about 9:00pm.
