While Priyanka Chopra’s much-hyped remake of 1973 film Zanjeer couldn’t really take off at the box-office, Parineeti Chopra’s Shuddh Desi Romance picked up, thanks to the positive word of mouth, reports Hindustan Times.
Zanjeer remake made on the budget of approx Rs. 70 cr garnered approx Rs. 3.75-4 crore on Friday.
Shuddh Desi Romance on the other hand earned approx 7 cr at the box office. It was made on a budget of approx Rs. 30 cr.
‘This week’s new release – Zanjeer failed to perform up to the mark on its Day 1 i.e. 1st Friday at the Domestic Box Office. Despite getting a wider release, the film saw a below average occupancy not just in the morning and afternoon shows but the entire day! As per early estimates, Zanjeer made a business of about 3.75-4 crores yesterday, which is quite disappointing,’ writes trade website Koimoi.com.
Shuddh Desi Romance on the other hand, has managed to woo the audience with its out-of-the-box treatment.
‘As per early estimates, Shuddh Desi Romance managed to rake in approx 7.75-8 crores at the Domestic Box Office on Day 1 i.e. 1st Friday,’ according to the trade website.
