A fire burnt valuables in a compartment of a Sylhet-bound train at Kamalapur rail station in the capital early Sunday. Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur railway police station, said the fire broke out in a compartment of ‘Parabat Express’ train at a wash-shed of the station around 4:00am. Few minutes after the train stood in the wash-shed, locals saw smoke billowing out of a compartment, he said.
Later, a fire fighting unit rushed in and put out the fire around 4:50am with the help of locals.
A probe body was formed to fined out cause of the fire.
Three cases were filed in this connection, Ministry of Railway, Kamalapur Railway Station and Government Railway Police being the complainants.
