She was ‘raped, tortured’
The 13-year-old girl, who died of multi-organ failure in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday, was severely tortured and raped, reveals the autopsy.
Morgue sources at Dhaka Medical College said her internal organs suffered heavy bleeding and there were injury marks in her body showing that she was badly beaten and raped.
They also collected viscera to test whether she was fed sedatives or poison.
The girl was rushed to the hospital around 5:30am Tuesday by her cousins Solaiman Khan, a police constable, and Lokman, both currently absconding.
Before her death, the girl had told police that her sister-in-law had mixed something with her milk on Monday evening. She could not recall anything after that.
The victim lived with Solaiman, his wife Bristi and the couple’s one-and-a-half-year old daughter at the capital’s Khilgaon, said Sub-inspector Sheikh Motiur Rahman of Khilgaon Police Station.
Solaiman and Lokman, around 35, brought the girl to Dhaka from her village in Commilla without informing her parents about a month ago, he said. “It’s not clear why he brought her to Dhaka. However, we suspect that the sister-in-law as the main culprit.”
The victim’s body was sent home yesterday and her mother sued Lokman, Solaiman and Bristi alias Sumi alias Yasmin in this connection. Bristi is now under police custody.
