Five senior leaders of the ruling Grand Alliance will accompany Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to New York where she will attend the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). They are Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Members Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed, Workers Party leader Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Party Presidium Member Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Moin Uddin Khan Badal. They all are members of parliament.
“These five leaders have been included in the delegation which the prime minister will lead to the 68th session of UNGA,” a senior official of the Foreign Ministry told The Independent on Tuesday.
There will be 50-60 members in the Bangladeshi delegation, said another official.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave the capital for New York on September 22 to attend the 68th session of the UNGA.
She is scheduled to return home on September 30.
The Prime Minister will deliver her speech at the 68th session of UNGA.
Bangladesh has sought a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on the sidelines.
The meeting is yet to be confirmed, said an official.
