Thousands of RMG workers of different garment factories staged demonstration and abstained from work demanding salary and allowance increment at Monipur area under Gazipur sadar upazila in the district on Tuesday morning. They locked into a clash with police while trying to barricade Dhaka-Mymensing highway. At least 10 workers were injured at this time. Police said, RMG workers of Givency group and another garment factory at the area came out from their workplaces and demonstrated on Hotapara-Monipur road. They also brought out a procession. At one stage, they tried to barricade the nearby Dhaka-Mymensing high way. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and prevented them. About after an hour, police took the situation under control. Following this incident, all garment factories in the area declared closure for Tuesday. Additional police were deployed in the area to avoid any unwanted situation.
