The High Court on Monday stayed the recruitment process of more than 5,000 different posts of third and fourth class under the Health Ministry for three months.
After brief hearing on two separate writ petitions, the HC bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and AKM Zahirul Haque came up with the order. It also issued two separate rules asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why the recruitment process of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) following an advertisement of the concerned department should not be declared illegal.
The DGHS on November 22 last year published a circular for recruiting 915 candidates while DGFP issued a circular on March 23 this year for the recruitment of 4,294 candidates.
The petitions were filed by a Supreme Court lawyer Aftab Uddin Siddique and two candidates -Tariqul Islam and Abdullah-Hill Mahbub – seeking HC directive for staying the recruitment process.
The petitions were filed as public interest litigations, which alleged that the authorities concerned committed irregularities and violated the rules in the recruitment process.
Secretaries of Health and Public Administration, Director Generals of the Health Department and Family Planning have been made respondents to reply to the rule.
Advocate Abdul Baset Mujumder and Advocate AM Amin Uddin appeared for the petitioners.
