Teachers and students of Rajshahi Education Board Model School and college formed a human chain in the city on Tuesday morning, protesting at the attack on a teacher of the college.
Several hundred teachers, students and office staff gathered in the Rajshahi rail gate area at around 11.00am and formed the human chain, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.
In the hour-long human chain, the students threatened that they would lay siege to the police station if the attackers were not arrested within 48 hours.
Speakers in the programme said miscreants Monday noon attacked Ashraful Islam, lecturer in mathematics at Rajshahi Education Board Model School and College.
He came under the attack at the college main entrance while he was returning home from the college at around 2:30pm in a motorcycle, they informed.
They also said the miscreants hacked him by machetes. Then locals rescued him and sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Rajshahi Education Board Model School and College principal Mokbul Hossain demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
Boalia police station officer-in-charge Ziaur Rahman told New Age that a case was filled and police were trying to nab the accused.
