A graceful façade of the third season of Bangla year Sarat was created by the artistes of Chhayanaut through the evergreen songs at a programme held at the Battola of the faculty of fine arts of Dhaka University on Friday.
Vibrant dance recitals and songs of mainly Rabindranath Tagore depicting the elegance of autumn were presented at the programme.
The programme began with the chorus rendition along with synchronised group dance of the song Dekho dekho dekho sukhtara. The combined voices of about 50 singers along with the soulful dance created a sense of peacefulness within the minds of the audience who gathered at the venue to enjoy the show ignoring drizzle.
All the singers and dancers were wearing light blue attire that agreed with the mood of autumn which is well-liked for its clear, blue sky. The chorus also presented Ogo shefali boner moner kamona with coordinated dance by dancers at the programme.
Anonder-e sagor hotey, another very touching song, was also presented at the programme by the chorus. The joyous lyric as well as composition of the song made the gathering feel the beauty of autumn in that moist morning.
Sukanto Chakraborty received loud applause through his soulful presentation of Suvro asoney biraj in his powerful voice. Dipanjan Mukherjee presented a romantic song Hridoye chhiley jege. Naima Islam Naz and Semonti Monjuri created a joyful atmosphere through their presentation of Chhutir banshi bajlo and Kar banshi nishi bhorey respectively.
Dipi Das presented the popular Tagore number Tomare ja chhilo tai bolo while Bikrom Das rendered the moving song of the poet Ami chanchal hey.
A good number of people gathered at the progrmme to rejoice the season with the songs and dance routines. Ali Haider Zia, a government service holder, came at the programme with his family. ‘The show was worth watching even in such unpleasant weather,’ said Zia to New Age.
‘The dance and songs presentations were enjoyable,’ observed Sarah Sharmin, a student of Dhaka University. ‘But I hoped that there would be a few poem recitations as I think there are many poems by numerous poets that beautifully depict the spirit of autumn,’ added Sharmin.
