Bangladesh Under-19 fell to a six-wicket defeat against their West Indies counterparts in the opener of their seven-match One-Day series in Guyana on Monday.
West Indies Under-19 won the toss and asked Bangladesh U-19 to bat first. The visitors gave a poor account of themselves as they stumbled to 135 all out inside 46 overs.
Captain Mehedy Hasan was the highest scorer with 29, while wicketkeeper Jashim Uddin chipped in with 21. Alzarri Joseph was the most successful bowler for the hosts, taking 3-30 in nine overs.
In reply, West Indies U-19 chased down the target in 34.4 overs, with man-of-the-match Leroy Lug scoring 69 to take them to 138/4. Mehedy took two of the four wickets and conceded just 16 runs in nine overs.
The second match will take place today in Georgetown.
