Police arrested four people, including a young woman, from city’s Mohammadpur area on Wednesday night in connection with the killing of an ATM booth guard of Dutch Bangla Bank, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Meghla, Parvez, Sony, 23 and Jewel, 22.
Enamul Haq, 25, a guard of an ATM booth of Dutch Bangla Bank, was chopped to death in Mohammadpur area in the city on Sunday.
Contacted, Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station Azizul Haque told UNB that they identified Meghla after scrutinizing the video footage captured
by the CCTV camera of the ATM booth.
Enamul might have been killed following previous enmity with Meghla, he said.
A team of police conducted a drive at Sher-Shah Suri Road on Wednesday night and arrested Parvez.
According to his statement, police arrested Meghla and her two accomplices -Sonny and Jewe after conducting simultaneous drives in different areas of Mohammadpur. The drive continued till early morning.
Police also recovered a sharp weapon from their possessions.
Meghla was involved in anti-social activities and Enamul used to go to her rented house, said the OC. She might have hired the three youths for killing Enamul, he added.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees reportedly confessed their involvement in the killing.
