At least nine persons were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents across the country on Friday. At least four people, including two siblings, were killed and five others injured as a truck rammed a human hauler on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Naujor area on Friday. Among the victims, three were identified as Sumon, 18, his brother Faruk, 19 and Alam, 32 of Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh while the identity of another victim could not be known immediately. All the four persons were mason by profession, police said. The accident took place in the area at around 8 am when a speeding truck hit a Konabari-bound human hauler from Gazipur, leaving three people dead on the spot and six others injured.
Meanwhile, two truck drivers were killed in a separate road accident at Batkura area on Dhaka -Tangail highway on Friday morning. The victims were identified as Halim Miah, 45, of Savar and Jamir Uddin, 50 of Dhaka.
Police said two Dhaka bound loaded trucks from Dinajpur halted at Batkura area due to long gridlock at 5 am.
Both the victims–Halim Miah and Jamir Uddin–came out from the trucks and were trying to cross the road on foot. At that time another truck from the opposite direction ran over them. Both the drivers were killed on the spot, police said. Three people, including two cattle traders, were killed as a truck entered into a tea stall in Ekdala area on the Natore-Rajshahi Highway on the day. They were identified as cattle traders Hazrat Ali and Taijuddin of Kapasia in Gazipur district and night guard Mukur Hossain.
