The Iranian state minister for cultural affairs, Mohammad Baquer Khurram Shad, also Islamic culture and relations organization chairman, called on Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Thursday, said a DU press release.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest particularly possibility of undertaking more joint collaborative project between DU and the higher educational institutions of Iran, the release added.
They also discussed strengthening the brotherly relations between Bangladesh and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iranian envoy to Bangladesh Hussain Aminian Tousi, DU pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Persian language and literature chairman Tarique Ziaur Rahman Sirazi, among others, were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Iranian state minister and DU VC jointly inaugurated ‘The Hafiz Yard’ at the 5th floor of the university’s arts building.
