The director is collaborating with her brother for the third time in her next starring Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, reports Mumbai Mirror.
Zoya Akhtar has cast her brother Farhan in her upcoming film (untitled) which revolves around the bond shared by a woman and her younger brother.
Buzz is that the actor will play Priyanka Chopra’s love interest in the film which will see Ranveer Singh and Priyanka play siblings.
A source close to the film told Mirror, ‘The film will have an ensemble cast. Now with Farhan’s inclusion, three actors have been finalised. But two more actors are yet to be added.’
To rewind a bit, Zoya wanted to cast reallife cousins Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in the film but the casting coup did not work out. Ranbir backed out first and the grapevine suggests that later Kareena opted out because she was apprehensive about playing Ranveer’s elder sister.
Zoya made her directorial debut in 2008, with Luck By Chance, which received much critical acclaim. Three years later, she directed Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a multistarrer, which was received well by both the critics and the masses- and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
While Zoya directed a segment in Bombay Talkies, this will be Zoya’s third feature film. Farhan has been a part of both her earlier ventures. Think of it, Hrithik too has been.
The latest rumour doing the rounds is that Zoya is keen to have Hrithik too on board in her Ranveer-Priyanka starrer.
